When I learned Karen was hosting her own ‘blog’, I jumped at the opportunity to write her “About” section!  Let me tell you ‘about’ this amazing woman and the many talents she is graciously sharing with us! 
Have you ever met someone that you just knew you adored from that very first moment?  That would be Karen.   Okay, she’s beautiful, but she’s also one of the most warm-hearted, kind and generous people you could ever hope to meet!  Karen has an endearing charm about her that makes her guests feel welcome, relaxed, and part of the family! 
A California native, Karen, her husband Charlie, and their three beautiful children relocated to North Carolina in 2000. Karen left behind a corporate position in sales and marketing, where she also held positions as an Event Planner and Event Management.   Throughout her years in California and NC, Karen attended culinary classes and developed her own personal style.  I like to call it “Casual Elegance!” 
In 2006, the Cromwell Family moved to Virginia where they now proudly call Smith Mountain Lake their home.  They have embraced lakeside living and relish the time they spend enjoying the company of others either on their dock or entertaining on their boat while on a sunset cruise.
Hosting Annual Wine Tasting parties is a Cromwell tradition, as are lavish gourmet dinners for a crowd of 2 to 20!  In addition, Karen’s knack for interior design has graced several designer model homes in the Carolina’s, and she will share with you how you can achieve these luxurious touches with ease!
A freelance writer for several years, Karen has honed her skills in the art of everyday entertaining and she currently is ‘Assistant to the Chef’ at a five star restaurant on beautiful Smith Mountain Lake recently featured in Southern Living Magazine.   An opportunity she embraces, Karen assists with event planning, weddings, catering, cooking courses, and also works behind the scenes in the kitchen with the chefs.
Therefore, I kindly welcome you to ‘Everyday Entertaining’, it has been my pleasure to introduce you to my best friend, Karen!  I know she will inspire you to achieve the Casual Elegance that fits your lifestyle.  Her recipes, decorating tips, and general advice on gracious living will provide you the avenue to the moments that matter…spending treasured time with family and friends.
